All Creatures of Our God and King

Francis of Assisi, 1225

Verse 1
All creatures of our God and King
Lift up your voice and with us sing,
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Thou burning sun with golden beam,
Thou silver moon with softer gleam!
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Verse 2
Thou rushing wind that art so strong
Ye clouds that sail in Heaven along,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Thou rising moon, in praise rejoice,
Ye lights of evening, find a voice!
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Verse 3
And all ye men of renewed heart,
Now cry aloud and take your part,
O sing ye! Alleluia!
We who long pain and sorrow share,
Praise God and on Him cast our care!
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Verse 4
Let all things their Creator bless,
And worship Him in humbleness,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son,
And praise the Spirit, Three in One!
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Alas and Did My Savior Bleed

Isaac Watts, 1707

Verse 1
Alas and did my Savior bleed
And did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that Sacred Head
For such a worm as I?

Verse 2

Was it for crimes that I had done
He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity! grace unknown!
And love beyond degree!

Verse 3

Well might the sun in darkness hide
And shut his glories in,
When Christ, the Mighty Maker died,
For man the creature’s sin.

Verse 4

Thus might I hide my blushing face
While His dear Cross appears,
Dissolve my heart in thankfulness,
And melt my eyes to tears.

Verse 5

But drops of grief can ne’er repay
The debt of love I owe:
Here, Lord, I give my self away
‘Tis all that I can do.

Abide With Me

Abide With Me
Henry F. Lyte, 1847

Verse 1
Abide with me, fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

Verse 2
Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day;
Earth’s joys grow dim; its glories pass away;
Change and decay in all around I see;
O Thou who changest not, abide with me.

Verse 3
Come now in power, as the King of kings,
All kind and good, with healing in Thy wings,
Save from my woes, and hear O Lord my plea-
Come, Friend of sinners, and abide with me.

Verse 4
I need Thy presence every passing hour.
What but Thy grace can foil the tempter’s power?
Who, like Thyself, my Guide and Stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.

Verse 5
I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless;
Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
Where is death’s sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.

Verse 6
Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes;
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven’s morning breaks, & earth’s vain shadows flee;
In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

A Mighty Fortress

Martin Luther, 1529
Based on Psalm 46

Verse 1
A Mighty Fortress is our God
A Bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood
Of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe
Doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great,
And, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.

Verse 2
Did we in our own strength confide,
Our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side,
The Man of God’s own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth, His Name,
From age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.

Verse 3
And though this world, with devils filled,
Should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed
His truth to triumph through us:
The prince of darkness grim,
We tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure,
For lo, his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.

Verse 4
That word above all earthly powers,
No thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours
Through Him Who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go,
This mortal life also;
The body they may kill:
God’s truth abideth still,
His kingdom is forever.

1 Kings 18:36-39

And it came to pass at the time of the
Offering of the evening sacrifice,
That Elijah the prophet came near, and said,
LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel,
Let it be known this day that
Thou art God in Israel,
And that I am Thy servant,
And that I have done all these things at Thy Word.
Hear me, O LORD, hear me…

That this people may know
That Thou art the LORD God,
And that Thou hast turned their heart back again.
Then the fire of the LORD fell,
And consumed the burnt sacrifice,
And the wood, and the stones, and the dust,
And licked up the water that was in the trench.
And when all the people saw it,
They fell on their faces:
And they said, the Lord, He is the God;
The LORD, He is the God.

Your Name is great and Your heart is kind;
For all Your goodness I will keep on singing,
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find.

O my soul, worship His holy Name.
Sing like never before, O my soul.

Still my soul sings Your praise unending,
Ten thousand years and then forevermore.

O my soul, worship His holy Name.
Sing like never before, O my soul.
I’ll worship Your holy Name.

Bless the Lord, O my soul,

All Glory Be to Christ

Words by Dustin Kensrue To the tune of Auld Lang Syne

Verse 1
Should nothing of our efforts stand, No legacy survive,
Unless the Lord does raise the house, In vain its builders strive.
To you who boast tomorrow’s gain, Tell me, what is your life?
A mist, it vanishes at dawn, All glory be to Christ.

Chorus
All glory be to Christ our King,
All glory be to Christ.
His rule and reign we’ll ever sing,
All glory be to Christ.

Verse 2
His will be done, His kingdom come, On earth as is above.
Who is Himself our daily bread, Praise Him the Lord of love.
Let living waters satisfy the thirsty without price.
Come eat of Him, our Living Bread, all glory be to Christ.

Chorus
All glory be to Christ our King,
All glory be to Christ.
His rule and reign we’ll ever sing,
All glory be to Christ.

Verse 3
When on the day, the great I Am, the faithful and the true,
The Lamb who was for sinner’s slain, Is making all things new.
Behold our God shall live with us, And be our steadfast Light,
And we shall e’er his people be, All glory be to Christ.

Chorus
All glory be to Christ our King,
All glory be to Christ.
His rule and reign we’ll ever sing,
All glory be to Christ.

All glory be to Christ our King,
All glory be to Christ.
His rule and reign we’ll ever sing,
All glory be to Christ.
